The problem
Heights Vogue needed a store that looked like a fashion brand rather than a template — and that they could run themselves, without paying a platform a percentage of every sale.
What I built
A Next.js storefront with product pages, cart, checkout and order tracking, sitting on a Django backend I built for products, orders and the newsletter.
Payments run through Flutterwave, and product imagery is served through Cloudinary so the pages stay fast on Nigerian mobile connections.
The parts that were hard
Owned end to end
Storefront and commerce API both built for this brand, so there is no platform fee and no ceiling on what can be changed.
Order tracking without an account
Customers can follow an order from an order number, which removes the single most common support message a small store gets.
Fast on a phone
Cloudinary-backed imagery and a lean client bundle, because the majority of the audience shops on mobile data.
My role
Sole engineer — storefront, commerce API and deployment.
